In Ericsson Dhaka Office a demonstration is going on,Engineers are protesting lay off



A hundred employees of the multinational Telecommunication company Ericsson had rallied at the office grounds in Gulshan, keeping confined three of its top officials protesting the lay off.
Ericsson employees in Dhaka today demonstrated at their office premises protesting laying off of 50 employees.The company management has said they are in line with company policy.
The employees were sacked without any prior notice, Lutfor Rahman, general secretary of LM Ericsson Employees' Union of Bangladesh, told www.pressnews365.com

Contacted, Sonia Aplin, head of marketing and communications of South East Asia, Oceania and India zones of the company, said the decision was taken in line with company policies.All changes have been made and communicated to our impacted employees in strict compliance with local regulations and company policies,

But as contacted with Lutfor Rahman, general secretary of LM Ericsson Employees' Union of Bangladesh,told that the decision has taken brutally,without considering any type of humanities to the employees and broke the Bangladesh Labour Law.He also said many of the employees have served in Ericsson Bangladesh more than ten years.The company has laid off these employees with a lump sum benefit,which is not acceptable at all.They have knocked several times to the management,but they refused every proposal.

Today morning Todd Ashton, head of Ericsson’s Bangladesh,Srilanka and Malaysia came to Ericsson Dhaka office,and declared these laid off deceleration.After that all engineers have started demonstration for their rights.



The officials confined inside were: Todd Ashton, head of Ericsson’s Bangladesh,Srilanka and Malaysia , Abdus Salam, acting unit head, and Khiarul Bashar, human resource manager,Abdus Salam,Ericsson Bangladesh Country Head.
